The Scarlet Quartet played in the picturesque ruin of Templebreedy Ruins Crosshaven for Maxine and Andrew’s wedding.

Kate Callanan of C T events had prepared the space beautifully, right down to fine handkerchiefs embroidered with Maxine and Andrew for the tears of love and joy.

Andrew composed the music for the Processional and Bride’s entrance, and after having had a rehearsal with him in the Cork School of Music, we were well able to glide through the gentle music with the bridesmaids and bride.

And the wind blew…

The Holy Trinity Church in the parish of Templebreedy, Crosshaven, was designed by the architect William Burges who is best known as the architect of Saint Fin Barre’s Cathedral in Cork. The tower which was part of the original design was never built.

Maxine and Andrew had a Jewish Wedding blessing and breaking of the glass, which was fun! Everyone was very friendly especially the many guests from America.

Afterwards three of us, Ilse, Blaithin and Niamh were joined by Mo on guitar and played trad. Irish for the drinks reception in Crosshaven house. We so enjoyed playing and anyone happening to listen seemed to be happy. There was even a little dancing.

…my daughter so loves the embroidered handkerchief and calls it Sissy…
