Perfect Music for a Perfect Day

First civil wedding at Lismore Castle

Yesterday the Scarlet String Quartet played for Jurgen and Anne’s wedding in Lismore castle

in the courtyard

This was the first civil wedding in the castle, and a very beautiful ceremony. The dog they brought enjoyed it too! We played a lovely set of music chosen by the couple and there were two beautiful readings by Kahlil Gibran read in English and German. The acoustics in the banqueting hall are wonderful for live music. Here is the music list we played.
Entrance: Wedding March
Lighting of candles: Jesu Joy of Man’s desiring by Bach
Reading ‘On Marriage’ by Kahlil Gibran
Gabriel’s Oboe by Morricone
Lighting of single candle (and both first candles were left lit): Rondeau by Mouret
Trout Quintet by Schubert (which I arranged for quartet)
Music while signing: Queen of Sheba
Exit: Wedding Day on Troldholgen by Grieg
After the ceremony we played for their drinks reception and for the newly married couples first waltz.
Guests also danced to a beautiful Irish air ‘Inis Oirr’
